Kenya's former Chief Justice arrested during protest against Nairobi National Park construction

Kenya's former Chief Justice David Maraga was arrested on Monday alongside several environmental activists during protests against planned construction within Nairobi National Park. Kenyan police fired tear gas to disperse dozens of demonstrators who had gathered to oppose government plans to build on parts of the protected parkland.

The protests were directed against government proposals to construct a parking facility on 76 acres of land within the boundaries of Nairobi National Park.
